Helen Magdalene Yates

Helen Magdalene Yates of Pilot Knob, Missouri passed away January 6, 2022 at the age of 96 years. She was born September 24, 1925 in Iron Mountain, Missouri the daughter of the late Calvin and Nellie Rose (Mason) Hurst. On April 17, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert Clifford “Rocky” Yates who preceded her in death in 1998. To this union eight children were born: Cheryl Layton (James “Bo”), Nancy Brawley of Pilot Knob, Missouri, Vickie Hogan (Rev. Terry) of Steelville, Missouri, Rosemarie Memhardt (Paul) of Ironton, Missouri, Clifford Yates (Donna) of Arcadia, Missouri, and Mark Yates (Lois) of Belleview, Missouri, and Robert Dale Yates and Judith Ann Yates who both preceded her in death. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Helen was also preceded in death by three brothers: Floyde, Curtis, and Clyde, and three sisters: Ester Hurst, Ruby Tinker and Hester Wallis, and her sons-in-law, Don Brawley and Frank Plumlee. When she was a child, she attended the Iron Mountain Assembly of God Church. She later attended the First Baptist Church of Pilot Knob where she was a member for many years. Helen was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, the Disabled American Vets Auxiliary, and she belonged to the Red Hat Society. Helen’s main focus was being a Mom and raising her children. She kept house, cooked, and loved being with her family. Helen and her daughters enjoyed spending Saturdays together shopping and going to lunch. She will be missed by family and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 12:00 Noon from Bryson Funeral Home with Pastor Lois Yates and Rev. Terry Hogan officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Preferred Hospice or the V.F.W. in Bismarck, Missouri.
